Counterpoint: Decline in religion doesn’t bode well for the republic

This might not seem like a crisis, but the American Founders would have disagreed. These men saw that self-government depended on morality and virtue, which, in turn, depended on religion. As George Washington stated in his Farewell Address, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indisputable supports.”

Your “which, in turn” is invalid.

There is morality without religion. And there is terrible immorality with religion.

    • There is morality without religion because those people grew up in a Christian society. Respect for others is baked into the cake, but when you remove the predominant Christian culture, then the culture of ‘me’ takes over.

All of the sudden baby murder becomes a right and mutilating the genitals of children is justified because you can fool yourself into thinking that they consented.

There is 0 morality without God, there are only wicked men pretending that they are good.

Arrogant, self-centered, intolerant, intentionally ignorant bullshit.

Look, I’m a Christian and I can tell you this kind of stuff creates more atheists and anti-theists that I can count. It takes me FOREVER to get someone to listen to me because of drivel like this. This “everyone else is evil” makes people run away. There is NOTHING attractive about your faith because you only show derision and hate. There is no love. There is no inclusion into the body of Christ. There is no tolerance for anyone not like you. This attitude is of Satan and the blood of every person you drive away from God with it will be on your hands come judgement day.

If morality is not objective, it is nothing more than personal opinion and people will convince themselves whatever they do is moral.

Are you lying or ignorant? How we proceed will depend on that. I mean there’s no sin in being ignorant unless it’s intentional, so that’s the right choice.
