I’ve been trying to spark discussion in the other comics group, but despite the comic books in the header, it seems more focused on comic STRIPS than comic BOOKS.
What do you guys think?
Big week to make up for the light holiday week.
CatFight #2 - First issue was a hoot, this one? Er… eh… it’s an excuse to do one cat name themed fight over and over. :( Shame. Had promise.
Danger Street #7 - 7 months and I still have no idea where this is going. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Hunger and the Dusk #1 - Another new book that looks promising. Humans vs. Orcs vs… Generic brand super enemies who are totally not White Walkers? It sounds more dismissive than I meant, it’s actually decent.
Jon Sable Freelance Masterstroke Edition is STUNNING. I’m biased, I was in the Kickstarter for it.
Knight Terrors Green Lantern #1 and Shazam #1 - is it really a good idea to hijack brand new books which haven’t had time to find their own voice for another big, silly, crossover event? One that really should be themed for Halloween?
Moon Knight #25 - Why is this $10? Edit 92 Pages(!!!)
Rocketeer in the Den of Thieves #1 - You had me at “Rocketeer”.
Sirens of the City #1 looks promising, part Preacher, mild Sandman aesthetic. Vapires vs. Sirens. Art reminds me of Chris Bachalo in a good way.
Spirit World #3 - Such a good book.
Superman Lost #5 - Never would have thought that one of the better books this year would be a Supes book. Good way to challenge an omnipotent character.
Svengoolie Lost in Time #1 - I gotta be honest, I’m buying all the “Frank Miller Presents” books because of his poor health. Dude needs all the money he can get and it’s not like comics creators have health insurance (see Dave Sim, Peter David, William Messner-Loebs).
Unstoppable Doom Patrol #4 - Just now finding out it’s only 6 issues? :( I thought it was an ongoing.
World’s Finest Teen Titans #1 - neat seeing original recipe Titans again!
Immortal X-Men #13, X-Force #42 - Honestly, I think I’m buying the X-books just out of habit now. :( Not enjoying them.
X-Men: Days of Future Past Doomsday #1 - (sigh) - FINE…
A weekly pull list thread is a great idea. I get my comics delayed since I’m not subscribed to many titles these days. So my comic book shop gathers a few weeks worth and then ships them to me to save on shipping. But I’d still like to participate!
This week I’m only getting The Amazing Spider-Man #29 - I keep reading Spider-Man in the hopes that eventually it’ll get better, but it hasn’t been great since Dan Slott left (which was already not great towards the end). If it’s not boring/lame writing, it’s the art. John Romita Jr. has his days, but recent ASM hasn’t been his best work. Like you with the X-books, I think I buy this and Avengers out of habit now (Avengers by Jason Aaron was excruciatingly bad for me).
Test comment. I tried to comment in the Green Arrow thread, but it said I hadn’t picked a language on my profile? Weird.
