Putting my feelings of Musk to the side and he most likely wanted no other solution than Tesla cars on the road.

But…I can’t find any support for the information in the title. Journalist Vance is quoted seemingly just airing his own conclusion on what Musk wanted or not.

Do we really need this grasping for straws posts about Musk when we already have tons of better and more substantial pieces?

The full quote goes on to say,

Musk said as much to me during a series of e-mails and phone calls leading up to the announcement. “Down the road, I might fund or advise on a Hyperloop project, but right now I can’t take my eye off the ball at either SpaceX or Tesla,” he wrote.

      The full quote also includes,

[Hyperloop] was more that he wanted to show people that more creative ideas were out there for things that might actually solve problems and push the state forward.

Which to me indicates that Vance saw Musk not actually planning to build Hyperloop as somehow being a good thing.

I heard (not verified) that Musk had really bad inconsistencies when he was explaining how the Hyperloop should work. If looks like he was making stuff up

Yeah, never attribute to malice what could be explained by ineptitude and disinterest. This is just a quote of somebody else’s opinion of musk.

No, no. This is the rule when dealing with people who haven’t given you reason to believe they’re acting in bad faith. Musk has been blatantly and openly acting in bad faith for years.

I understand that, I did hope most people will also read the article here. But the idea suggested by Vance is clearly not too far off in my opinion. I am happy too discuss that stuff here because it would fit the theme. I am not a big fan of Musk myself so I am probably a bit biased too

Such a piece of shit. Can’t believe I looked up to him in my younger years.

The Hyperloop is what ended my honeymoon with Musk. Everyone I knew loved the idea. I didn’t because I knew the science behind new max theoreticals on traditional steel wheel bullet trains. Once the blindfold was gone, I saw what he really was: a narcissist.

Took a while for the rest to hop aboard. Some never did. People are emboldened to be wrong when there’s someone to reinforce their stupiditly.

He fooled many of us, but I thank him for further opening my eyes and making me more aware of shysters like he and the pieces of shit that are trying to emulate him, like Spez and Jack Dorsey and far too many other tech moguls and burgeoning tech moguls.

Also fuck Trump, because without Trump’s normalization of this type of “mask off” behavior Musk would have never had the balls to show his true self, and now I’m not so sure if that was a blessing or a curse just yet, on a personal level it’s definitely fucked up my family quite a bit.

Don’t beat yourself up too much. There was a lot of selective reporting going on which masked how much of a giant piece of shit human being he is.

I’ve come to the conclusion that most CEOs are probably horrible people. Take Dan Price for example. He was the guy that gave away most of his salary to give his employees a living wage. Let’s just say he is not a good person either.

while i still have some respect for what he did, leading tesla from a prototype vehicle made in a shed based on a kit car to what it is today and starting a rocket company that has actually done some amazing things, yeah. hes a jackass and needs to be told so. but being wildly rich since birth has insulated him from that.

The High Speed Rail project is still underway. It’s been hit by endless cost increases and delays, but it’s still happening — Musk didn’t succeed there. Initial operation for the first segment (Bakersfield to Merced) is, rather depressingly, planned for the early 2030s.

The delays and cost overruns are ridiculous but also absolutely standard for the US. This country is atrocious at building anything more advanced than a single building.
