JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I STARTED SMELLING THAT SMELL AND CHECKED AND THERE WAS A DEAD RAT UNDER MY BED UGGGHHH
God knows when it got there but a) I only just started smelling That Smell an hour back (and I crashed for a couple of hours this afternoon) and b) I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there yesterday because I hauled the old suitcase out from under the other side of the bed to take to the op shop and I didn’t spot anything.
    But ugggghhhhhh.

Luckily I had some peppermint oil on hand, so that’s been sprinkled around.

I just hope the smell hasn’t got into the mattress or the bed. Ugggh.

One time I finished my black coffee to find bits of cockroach in the bottom of the mug… if that makes you feel any better about sleeping on a rat.

      Aaaaargh! 😱

      I hope you’re okay?

Many years ago, I lived in Ferntree Gully.

Beautiful suburb, lots of birds and other wildlife. Very peaceful.

But one night, I was fast asleep, when I was awakened by a rustling and scratching sound in the wardrobe.

I turned the light on, opened the wardrobe door.

      AND OUT RUNS A MOUSE!!!

I jumped up on the bed and SCREAMED!

The mouse ran straight out the door as fast as it could.

I’m not sure who was more frightened — me or the mouse!

Anyway, next day I went to Bunnings and got a caulking gun and sealed up the spot where I *think* it got in.

Big cleanup in the kitchen and the back yard too.

That was the last I saw of it.

        I hope you’re okay?

Just stopped shaking… I had to deal with one just before Christmas, though, so maybe that took the edge off?

What worries me is when it got in and how long it’d been there - as I said, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there yesterday and I only just started smelling That Smell, on the other hand it was stuck to the carpet and matted underneath, so… uggh.

Problem is, the foundations have sagged so there’s a lot of places it could have got in (part of the reason I’ve sold the house). I just hope that’s the last one I have to deal with before settlement day. >.<

😖 Zooks decided because I woke up early yesterday that 3:30 is now wake up time and head-butted me awake.
Admittedly she woke me out of one of those annoying dreams, but still.

A few days ago, our tortoiseshell alpha pretty much purred me awake at 4am, approximately 1 hour to wake up time for me to go pick up my wife. Yep, she just sat on her pillow and purred LOUDLY.

This morning at maybe 2am she parked herself on top of me, and groomed my hair for a good 10-20 minutes, the same way she grooms our fluffy one.

Couldn’t sleep so I took off from Albury at 5:30. Just got home when my alarm was due to go off.

I was fine until maybe 45 minutes out and my eyes started getting a little stingy but I pushed through and everything is a-o-k.

Actually pretty glad to have avoided the “coming home from a long weekend” Hume Hwy crowd. It was a quiet and good run.

T minus 12 minutes to find out if the kid did a good job of dyeing my hair. Ok let’s face it I don’t really care as long as it’s not patchy.

Update: It looks good. Just need to see it in daylight now.

stop it, it’s scientifically proven that men actually do suffer more than women when they have respiratory illnesses, they feel worse and get physically sicker .

Take care. Rest. Have some meds and some lemon honey tea.

I’ve gotta go and buy a dress today. Looking on line and I discovered I’m more picky about clothing than I am about food. I don’t want black, prints, lace, too much polyester, bright colours. I don’t want to look like a bridesmaid or someone who came from the set of The Handmaids Tale. I like jumpsuits but don’t wanna get half naked just to have a piss.

I need something I can wear with my ankle boots because I don’t wear scrappy shoes. And I’m gonna need a handbag. I’ll probably come out with 3 handbags and no outfit. Pray for me.

The man needs a shirt and he doesn’t give a shit what colour it is. Urgh.

@Seagoon_ @melbourne Home made pizzas are the best 😋

Last time I made them, I stopped by Kmart to get a couple of pizza trays.

The only issue I’ve had is I’ve gone for a store-bought base, and I haven’t found a good one. Which is a challenge, because wifey is a bit of a fussy eater.

(Also, wifey puts too many toppings on hers and they end up going everywhere!)

But so much tastier and fresher than you get from a pizza shop.

Sounds like she needs more cheese to stop it from going all over the place.

I do enjoy a stacked pizza though.

@Duenan @melbourne More cheese, or just don’t overstack the thing so it has like a 5-10cm tall pile of toppings in the middle 😂

Also, better quality bases might help? I just got some Lebanese pita bread from Coles last time.

I actually ate Chicken drumsticks seasoned overnight.

I’ve got a few frozen pizzas from the supermarket and will be going back to Aldi to pick up a few more of the fresh ones later on in the week if I have some spare time.

I had a premade beef stir fry. Not as much sauce and veg as I would’ve done if I was making it myself, but it was nice for a quick and easy dinner

Nup, today was not as good as yesterday. Bad sleep, got some shit done but starting to feel some kind of second wave of Bleah coming on. Just like the last time I got covid… I’ll do a test tonight (although a negative doesn’t mean it isn’t something else).

Swear to god I’ll cry if I feel sick tomorrow morning. I will not go in sick but it suuuucks to miss another day of pay (doubt they’d let me take my first day off on sick leave)

    Nice things for today though:

    positivity!!!1 ✨
    • GLORIOUS sun
    • scored a $2 bacopa at Bunnings
    • stocked up on Bonsoy at $3.90 this week
    • cheap fennel bulbs 😋
    • found my beetroot seeds
    • my new daily planner is here!!! Designed for scattered minds - undated, has a “most important things” sublist, and a “brain dump” page every 7 days for planning out the week. Can’t wait to use this on Monday!

Time to do gardening pt 2 real quick now that the sun is off my plants, then get into the kitchen. Think I can only make the arroz verde and then I’m done.

Huh. That first paragraph basically sums up my day too, minus the COVID bit. I had a decent sleep but woke up after a very bad dream, did some vacuuming and general housework, etc, but yesterday I went for a walk and got fish and chips and some vitamin D so today was a downgrade. And I woke up ever so slightly sickly, nothing major, but tomorrow I’ll either be completely fine or I’ll be really sick

@Seagoon_ @melbourne Ugh. It’s Monday tomorrow. Why do weekends have to be so short? 😔

There’s a huge workload to get through, and I’m stressing about it already.

On the upside, I’m taking Thursday and Friday off.

And there’s a concert that wifey and I are going to on Tuesday night 😊

I gave her the tickets for Valentine’s Day. I haven’t been to a concert since the pandemic.

Also, I have a song by HER stuck in my head: https://youtu.be/_iKxR-daLCo?si=X7mcQHhCZHoN2UWn

I’ve been posting from Mastodon to Aussie Zone, rather than directly on the site, which is why the extra @ are there. (Hopefully it still all works without them!)
