I’m definitely a fan but I wouldn’t put it near the top of my list. S01 was brutal to get through (nothing new for a Trek series) and I was not a fan of the Klingons. After that, with Pike and the time jump, I found it way more engaging and entertaining.
For me, the only weak spots in the later season are all the gosh danged cookie-cutter motivational speeches where Burnham, in her whisper voice, tries to rally the crew while the camera slowly pans across everyone’s face and heartwarming music plays in the background. It’s a cheap trick akin to the overused jump scares in horror movies. Every time a see one in a new episode I can’t help but roll my eyes at the forced drama.
