I’m trying to get some other perspectives in preparation for a potential new build.

I’m currently running Plex, Qbittorrent, the *arrs, Home Assistant, Klipper, and a few other things on a PC I built back in 2018. It’s in a Fractal Design Define R6 stuffed with 9 or 10 HDDs (JBOD, 8-14TB) but I’d like to move to something that’s more efficient power wise while also getting rid of the midtower case on my desk.

Thus far I’ve been leaning toward a Node 804 case with a new microATX board running Intel hardware so that I can ditch my GPU and hopefully use less power. I’ve also looked into NAS or DAS, but I find these too limiting with their fixed bay size and high cost. I’m not sure what else there is really other than a rack setup which is probably too much for my purposes.

What are all of you doing for your hardware solutions with large storage pools?

Some NAS like Synologyet you have expansion bays so you can add more drives. If you don’t want to build another server that’s also a possibility.

I wasn’t aware that they even offered expansion bays like this. Thanks for the heads up!
