  • An intranet is a local and private computer network.

The internet is a network of intranets, or more accurately, a network by which computers of disparate networks can connect.

Intra, meaning inside or within. Inter, meaning between or among.

Interdepartmental communication would be communication between departments, while intradepartmental communication would be within a single department.

The inter vs intra is the difference here.

  • The intent behind ladybird is to not use existing renderers, so brand new everything from scratch.

Originally it was the browser/HTML viewer for SerenityOS and it got split off.

    Things I like:

    • Not chromium, no code from any other browser
    • No monetization
    • Sponsorships are shown on the website and social media, not the browser

    What I don’t like:

    • Github (main repo)
    • Discord (main community hub)
    • Xitter (main social media updates)

    Targeted alpha is 2026.

  • Back then, an internet (lower case “i”) was a small internal network of computers that communicated with each other.

That is an intranet, not internet, and is still applicable as a term. You just hear people say LAN more these days.

“World Wide Web” turned out to be a mouthful to say, so we replaced it with “the Internet” instead. Although most websites still start with “www” to represent their global reach.

The world wide web was always just one part of the internet, specifically the portion supported by http. Ftp, email, etc existed then as well, but was not part of the www.

  • A proposed bill in Michigan has a broad reach that covers everything from adult AI content to manga and even depictions of transgender people. It includes a VPN ban to avoid workarounds.

On Sept. 11, Michigan Republican representatives proposed far-reaching legislation banning adult internet content.

The bill, called the Anticorruption of Public Morals Act and advanced by six Republican representatives, would ban a wide variety of adult content online, ranging from ASMR and adult manga to AI content and any depiction of transgender people. It also seeks to ban all use of VPNs, foreign or US-produced.

The Anticorruption of Public Morals Act has not passed the Michigan House of Representatives committee nor been voted on by the Michigan Senate, and it’s not clear how much support the bill currently has beyond the six Republican representatives who have proposed it.

TL;DR: 6 Republicans in Michigan proposed a bill that won’t pass, as the Senate and Governor are Democrats.

  • The trouble is, once the parent company starts merging some departments, shareholders often push to merge more departments.

Especially since they are talking about all the money they will save cutting jobs.

Based on the time frames for this, I’m going to guess by the end of 2026 the engineering team will shrink, followed by a 2027 announcement of merging departments for better management, and RedHat basically be just IBM entirely by 2028.

If I still had any servers on RH for work, I’d be planning my moves right about now (personally I started the shift after the 2023 announcement on source code availability, finalized the last three servers in June actually).

Really quite a shame to see how things have changed.

Anyway, I’d suspect there are at least a couple years left before its a mess.

  • Legal, hr, finance, and accounting is now IBM, and IBM has noted job cuts as part of the cost savings in its profit forecasting.

Engineering, product, sales, and marketing are not making any changes - yet.

I would note that IBM is also now pushing its “enhanced AI” support over speaking with actual people, unless you have an upgraded support tier. Basic support tier can also no longer escalate cases.

I would agree in not needing to rush anywhere, but I would have to say this looks like the start of enshittification for sure.

  • “Notices bulges OwO what’s this?” is used within the groypers to make fun of furries, as well as when they are (ugh I hate that I’m about to say this word) “transvestigating”, which is when they “investigate” whether someone is trans or not. Also see “If you read this, you are gay LMAO”

Bella ciao is also used ironically within the groypers.

If it was the only thing there… Sure. Its not though, its one of several things, which all have one very specific context - groypers.

    Context is always important.

Edit: Forgot to add - with Helldivers 2, the joke is you’ve got fascists dropping bombs while saying they are dropping bombs on fascists. Again, a meme reference for groypers.
