100% i’m a 50 yo trans woman who used to be a bit of a punk. Then I tried to be normal and that just didn’t work. Hard to fit in to the norm when you’re so not normal in the first place. Now I have an almost completely new wardrobe and I’m kinda trying to merge the two a bit and look like something kinda wierd some of the time stylish at other times. Helps that I have a lot of wigs for this bald old head and moved back into the city, but being visibly trans feels fucking great honestly. It supposed to be clunky for a few years anyway.

Seems to be huh? I can’t be what I’m not despite trying to be normal hahah. Thanks for the affirmation <3

That’s the best but though! When you don’t fit in elsewhere you fit in there, and it’s just… honestly it’s fucking great!

I didn’t fit into the punk scene either honestly, but I was a part of it for a long time regardless and the people in it were a lot better than in the dance / nightclub scene I moved onto for professional reasons that’s for sure. I found my tribe eventually but I realise now nothing is how you want it to be really and every community has it’s fucking annoying insecure gatekeepers. I’m glad you enjoy your people of course.

Being a punk doesn’t have to mean hanging out with other punks of course, for me it’s always been a attitude and this has never changed regardless of how I chose to look.
