Oh nooooooo someone made a familiar and easy to use app to help people get used to this new ecosystem that can only thrive if people actually show up and use it. What a real shame.

Are we really being this petty already?

Other people’s opinions should not force you to change your own. People shouldn’t be judged by how they choose to partake in our internet microcosm. I much prefer sync over FAANG products.

With the even upvote/downvote ratio on this, it’s almost tempting to think this is somehow an edgy opinion. Wild times.

To your point though, I’d imagine the people that used Sync for Reddit would absolutely find it easier than learning a new app.

It is. I tried Jerboa and it was a broken mess. Sync just works and is familiar if coming from the reddit app.

And??? It’s a familiar UI for literally hundreds of thousands of people who used it for Reddit. I genuinely do not understand why anyone here would be against it. Gatekeeping is how start ups like this die.

We had the same people griping on Reddit when the first third party apps were developed, before the Reddit app. Also heard similar gripes during the great Digg and Slashdot migrations.
