yeah obviously moderate dems and DINOs like Manchin are never going to go for that. If that’s your bar for voting for democrats you’re being completely unrealistic.

Realistically, we’re going to have to demand the impossible if we want to solve climate change and half a dozen other major existential issues.

and how do you intend to “demand” that? if you mean withholding your vote until they cater to your specific view of the way things should be done you’re going to be waiting forever. and in the meantime republicans will keep fucking things up even worse.

What’s impossible is asking humans to work together for the good of all. Enough people think that such behaviour is treason that they will start a violent insurrection to stop it.

The democrats have openly refused to pack the courts. How are they supposed to campaign if they don’t have Republicans to threaten us with?

I used to think these kinds of comments were silly jokes. But, the more that the Dems just allow everything to slip rightwards, it seems like this is really their strategy, and I’m worried it’s not a joke.

I hope all this actually happens, as the US would be a better place with serious political representation that isn’t different flavours of Conservative. But I won’t be surprised if it does not, plenty of people are happy to vote for bigotry.

Hate fuels Republicans into resisting infighting. They have someone else to hate more.
I worry that it’s the left which tends to infight themselves into irrelevance.

They will blame immigrants, gays, and feminists (especially childless women) first. That’s the unifying ‘strength’ of right-wing politics: ignorant hate.

The “unifying strength” of fascism is it’s enforcement of a hierarchy, and Trump’s supporters hate losers more than anyone else. When he loses, they are going to blame everyone but especially the “moderate” anti-Trump republicans. They’ll destroy their own party trying to root out the unfaithful.
