Reminder that Sarah McBride is the first out transgender woman elected to congress. The Republicans are specifically targeting her and future transgender representatives by banning them their gendered restrooms of choice. As always, cruelty is the point.
I don’t know much about her, but she’s clearly handling this situation with an incredible amount of class. I respect the heck out of her for that.

They’re trying to break her, the only winning move is to shrug it off with poise. The goal is to demonstrate herself as a serious legislator and them as the lunatics who are more concerned with hurting her than helping their constituents
It upsets me too but I don’t think being angry about it will change anything. I’d rather take a moment to learn a lesson from her because I’m not sure I’d be so publicly level headed about it.
She’s on a big stage and this is a big moment for a community of marginalized people. She needs to be strong, not just for herself, but the people who find a reflection of themselves in her. Her ability to stay calm in this silly storm is admirable.
