    I am here to start a support group. Here are some things you might have been deceived on:

    -Scientist and the science community have an agenda outside of: preforming science.

    -Your religion is unique or special

    -On that note, you are unique or special

    -America is exceptional

    -Government has the ability to solve every conflict

    -Governement should solve every conflict

    -Governement should exist exactly how it is now

    -You will live long enough to explore the galaxy

    -Everyone should want to have children and raise a family

    -People in urban centers are different from people else where

    The list goes on, feel free to add other common misconceptions.

    The first step in treatment is learning you have a problem.

    It’s my impression that the ability for Instrospection is a rare trait in people as is Self-Criticism.

    Not that I think Carl’s dictum doesn’t apply to those who have those traits: I just think it’s harder for it to happen to them and it’s easier (but not guaranteed) for them to spot that status of being captured by a belief in themselves and get out of it or at least try to work around it.
