Feel free to have a look at
I’ve finally gotten around to starting the 2003 Battlestar Galactica. Very much recommended.
Does it take a while to get into? I’ve wanted to watch it for a long time but I’m not sure when to give it full focus.
I wouldn’t say so. Everything I’ve heard others say about it is that the writing is superb and that’s been my experience too. And it hooks you pretty quickly. (You’ll want to start with the 2003 miniseries, which is also on Prime at the moment, before going on to season 1 which aired in 2004.)
TV - our ‘regulars’ at the moment are: A Man On The Inside, What We Do In The Shadows, Silo, Lower Decks & Shrinking. The highlight of those this week was definitely the scene in Shrinking s02e06 with Alice & Louis. Extremely well done all round.
Otherwise on TV, we’ve just started the original Wolf Hall, which expects you to sit up and take notice, but rewards that no end (as it should with this cast, and the writing). And then there is Dune: Prophesy - which I am still unsure about, but still willing to see how it goes for another episode or two. Also looking forward to starting Black Doves and The Sticky.
Film - Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last weekend, which was a lot more fun than I expected, even if not outstanding, and then the 2015 Krampus on the 5th - Krampusnacht - which has become a bit of a tradition with us now, and remains enjoyable. Ten minutes after that finished, our power went out - no blizzard though.
Silo season 2 has the usual pitfalls where episode one has the main character magically finding every tool needed to create a makeshift bridge, but episode 4 has the same character bang her limbs on a locker to open it.
My friend was like “this woman has man instincts” during that scene
I finished up season 2 of Arcane and just started watching season two of Silo.
I would recommend both shows to just about anyone.
Started the series with Welcome to Chippendales, then started with the Wagatha Christie thing.
“The Veil” with Elizabeth Moss. First of all, it’s wild to see sweet little Peggy Olsen doing a turn as an ass-kicking super spy. Second, it’s a nice twisty plot with good acting and photography. One short season, so you can binge in a day.
Penultimate episode of day of the jackal. The series is worth a watch
I just watched Wicked and liked what they did with Ariana Grandes character where she switches between being good and evil several times and stays ambivalent even at the end of the movie.
Luna Nera. Lots of medieval repression and violence, under a fantasy guise
Watched Legend of Korra S4 after halting it for 2 Weeks. Also watched some Anime: DanDaDan and Brave Bang Bravern.
started arcane season two. again. on episode 5 right now
10/10 recommended
