Former U.S. President Donald Trump was hit with a sweeping fourth set of criminal charges on Monday when a Georgia grand jury issued an indictment accusing him of efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden.
Justice comes calling for the fourth time this summer.
I’ll believe that “justice comes calling” when he’s wearing clothes that match his skin color (not his natural gray “corpse twice warmed over” pallor, the John Boehner tribute one).
Not saying that it’s not good that they’re trying, but since he’s rich and powerful in an extremely corrupt system, actual justice for his many crimes will probably come in several years, if ever…
I understand your cynicism, but if there’s a silver lining it’s that this is a state level charge so he couldn’t pardon himself or get it dismissed if he were to somehow win the election. So this trial gonna happen no matter what.
I mostly agree, but then again, the risk of a Georgia judge being another Aileen Cannon is not insignificant, which could not just delay the trial but also unduly influence the outcome…

What’s to stop Republicans from installing a governor and pardoning him at the state level?
Georgia is one of five states where pardons come from an independent board and not the governor.

In this particular case, the Georgia governor doesn’t have the authority to grant a pardon.
