The violent protests didn’t do shit either, they just pissed off the rest of the citizenship. When protests turn to violence, all too often it’s against the businesses that the shops that the peasants frequent.

Also true, those are the wrong targets. There’s a much more pragmatic approach.
And if the prospective protestors are comfortable, they’ll stop short of their goals. Perhaps very short, if they start at all.
