Tragically, I moved and went from living 2 blocks from a Costco to 50 miles. Mainly I miss inexpensive cases of seltzer water… I went to a local grocery store and they were offering 8 cans of seltzer for $4.99, while normally I purchased a case of 24 for $5.70 at Costco. Back in the balmy halcyon days of May, I would walk to my local Costco with a dolly and return with a case of V8, some weird sparkly water from Washington, spinach, mushrooms, Diet Pepsi, Kettle chips, and much more…. and now, the memories are fading into the margins of history.

I am also missing the Kirkland hummus. I could use a vehicle and drive 52.3 miles (or so) to Costco, but it seems slightly unreasonable.

I’m currently 36 miles from the closest, it’s worth a trip at least twice a month for me. You just gotta plan ahead a little more and stock up for less frequent trips. One thing I like doing is getting a travel size version of house hold cleaning stuff like dish or laundry soap to use as the thing to refill from the giant Costco jugs instead of lugging a gallon of soap every time.

Another non Costco tip is don’t use dishwasher or laundry pods, even being cheaper from Costco, they’re super overpriced for the same ingredients as a box of powder that you can get generic from any grocery store.

Right, pretty much I just have to plan ahead and get more at once.

Most recently I have bought laundry detergent sheets from Amazon, as in the weird things of soap that disintegrate. I’m not really sure how it works, but they seem fairly economical.

I’m about 50 miles from a Costco as well. Here they do free shipping on orders over $75. We also use the laundry detergent sheets and so far they work well. Way less packaging and less mess than other options.

That would be convenient! I noticed they have different items and prices on their app than they do in person, though… For some reason, they charge a lot less in person. It might be because they’re basically including the shipping and then saying that it’s free.

I know the feeling. I just moved from 1.1 miles away to 108. It was the closest gas station AND grocery store to me.

Needless to say I let me membership lapse 💔

Definitely worth looking into a soda stream + a big refillable CO2 canister from your local brewery supplier
