Liberal whiggish history looking at how sexism was even more common and accepted 50+ years ago than it is today and assuming a linear regression into the past.
The most absurd take I ever saw in this vein was a writing advice book claiming that literally every single person in medieval Europe hated gay people.
They thought that “gay” was more like a sex position and the church considered women on top as sodomy and in general didnt like sex that resulted in procreation, even men kissing women on the lips was controversial. Not to mention “italian vices” - which was more post-middle ages but anyways.
How much of a chance this is trans erasure 🤔
