I’m dumb and don’t understand how this is related. You’re suggesting this is a post-covid symptom? That it causes headaches?

        I literally said “unrelated”

I lied though it’s actually related. Everybody’s getting more sick because COVID never went away and everybody is hell-bent on 1) pretending it did, or 2) acknowledging that it didn’t but that it’s just “another endemic flu-like virus”, or 3) acknowledging that it was indeed much worse than the flu, but because they haven’t had it yet they’re not gonna get hit with it

After I had covid I started getting migraines again for a bit every few days. Its fortunately gone now but it was really strange i felt like I was permanently on the verge of a migraine most days which made it impossible to do anything.

Hope it passes for you :(

do you know if it’s blood pressure related or neurological?

(also have you tried cold showers for the head (1-2 minutes), it helps sometimes (i tried it, works like 30% of the time on my headaches) to relax muscles if it’s pressure related)

def neuro, comes with some wicked visual snow as well. never thought about a cold object on the head, a cold shower sounds intense but maybe i will start with like a bag o peas on me nut. thank u for the suggestion

you can freeze wet towel as a cheapo reusable option meow-fiesta but i think cold compress is not exactly the same as it is prolonged (still worth a try!), compared to shower.

it’s not full body cold shower, just neck-up, so can be done even in the sink, if your faucet is high enough (although if you have long hair definitely too much hassle). i think the theory was some vessels might relax after cold shock in the neck and skin, and help circulation or something, dunno if it’s some belief or real shit tbh.

It kinda feels like head goes numb from cold, and then sometimes with numbness headache disappears (and sometimes doesn’t, but still pog when it works, takes like 10 minutes to determine what happened and go to drugs if it didn’t)

it’s not whiny to complain about something unreasonable. be nice to yourself, particularly while you’re suffering.

hope you make a full recovery soon cuddle

I made this as a jokey comment but I have actually been reflecting since then about how having longstanding neuro symptoms / chronic illness / long covid affects my self-image of my masculinity. I’ve never been a macho man but it is part of my identity which looks and feels different now that I’m moving slower and need a lot more rest and downtime.

I don’t feel like “less of a man” but I do feel less capable than I used to of the kind of stoic provider role with the people close to me, which suddenly makes me realize that I was doing that at all.

And I actually haven’t read and bell hooks yet, I really need to get on it.

could be one of those things where you’ve just got to go on a health cleanse

    less screen time

lots of fruit and veg vitamins

    vitamin supplements

    and SLEEP, good good sleep

I’ve just come out of sofa surfing for months and months, was constantly getting sick, finally got into my new place and I’ve basically just been sleeping for about 3 days so far

U are so right, one difficult habit for me to break has been that the more braindead I feel, the more time I spend on totally brainless activities like scrolling. Idk what to do when I don’t have the brain to do anything, but can’t sleep!

Yep, big time. You’ve just got to either be bored, find a non screen activity, or go to sleep. Reading a book puts me right to sleep, lol.

That sucks, comrade. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that.

Are your previous injuries possibly concussions? If you haven’t, please do your best to see a doctor about this.

O yes they definitely were. This has been my first time seeing a doctor about it and I am going back eventually.

Part gripe, part interested to hear if other comrades are experiencing similar and have anecdotes or suggestions, part journaling my status to look back on later

I don’t really know that much about it, sorry. I just know sudden chronic headache is common with concussions and that docs can help with it. I’m glad you’re seeing one!

I guess the other thing I know is that you should be extra careful about not getting any more, though it’s not like most people set out to get a concussion.

  • Totally feel you sadness

I caught covid in the first wave and thankfully survived it alright but I’m still suffering from the omnicron variant 2 years later. My headaches come mostly from my lymph nodes swelling in my neck, I can always tell they’re coming by the visual snow as well.

The intensity and frequency have definitely been reducing over time and so I hope your headaches do the same Care-Comrade
