    Adding … at the end of your answer is dismissive. You can answer questions without snark.

    Do not think for a second queer-people don’t have a right to be suspicious with new places especially with how many times throughout history they were betrayed.

      I’m going to ask them to end the exchange here as well. Near as I can tell from a mod standpoint, you’ve both said all that’s useful to say.

      Hi, I’m a bystander. Can you explain why the trailing “…” is dismissive, or what it even means in the context of text based discussions?

      I’ve seen it before but I’ve never known what to make of it. Thanks!

        I assume it could feel equivalent to a rhetorical pause that implies that should know better or something along those lines, which can feel dismissive. It’s not always dismissive to use … though
