A cowslip (Caladenia flava), a very common flower that is pretty much always the first orchid out where present. The other Caladenia spp. are generally bigger, showier and present flowers higher up (around waist level) and I love all of them, but I have a soft spot for this gorgeous, rich yellow flower.
There’s a northern hemisphere flower also called the cowslip which is a primrose, Primula veris:)
The Caladenias are endemic to Western Australia, the so-called spider orchids:
I took these in a different location but still the same general area. Iirc the YouTube channel “crime pays but botany doesn’t” talks about Caladenia spp. and WA orchids generally in the ep/s he did over here, and they’re fun (but sweary)
The cowslips I’m familiar with must be a primrose.
I love orchids, though. It’s wonderful to see native orchids growing as they will.
