> The US Department of State announced on X that it had “informed the guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.”
The department warned that such a move “would constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts,” adding that if Hamas proceeds, “measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire.”
In response, Hamas put out a statement in which it sharply rejects the State Deparment’s “allegations and categorically denies the false claims directed against it.”
The movement accused Washington of “echoing the Israeli occupation’s misleading propaganda” to “cover for its continued crimes and organized aggression against our people.”
Hamas further stressed that “it is the occupation authorities that have formed, armed, and funded criminal gangs responsible for acts of murder, kidnapping, and looting of aid trucks,” calling on the US to “stop echoing the occupation’s misleading narrative” and instead act to halt “Israel’s” “repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, most importantly its support for these gangs and its provision of safe havens for them in areas under its control.”
