Do it. The most important thing is to go in not necessarily expecting everything to be exactly like Windows. You can get a pretty similar experience if you use something like KDE as the desktop (Kubuntu, etc), but don’t be mad if things work a little differently in places, it generally isn’t worse (and is usually better) but it is different.
