Haven’t been able to find one I’m confident about. Seems like they’ll all either ban me or have no reach/no momentum. Most don’t even allow open signups. Is it worth continuing to try this one, like they might actually not ban me? Is there a different one I should be trying instead?
Should I just immediately block everyone that replies in bad faith and tell them to try me on nostr, so I’m not stopping them from talking to me but I also can’t get “banned for insults” ? I feel like I’d still get banned for that too. It feels like reddit or facebook, where the real reason for banning me is that I’ll spend a whole thread repeatedly telling the truth and refusing to go along with any lies

Honesty about what specifically? I have a hard time believing that people are legitimately anti-honesty.
You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?
Of course people tell lies and I’m not suggesting otherwise. The user I’m replying to used the phrase “anti-honesty”, which I read to mean that people on Lemmy are against being honest generically, which is not the case.
In this case, mainly Lemmy’s federation is broken + we need more freedom of speech
Across all cases, “we need more freedom of speech” is a pretty common example of what specifically I get banned from online discussion for being honest about
Most people anywhere I’ve been, online or offline, are anti-honesty, so when you say that’s hard for you to understand, it’s like you’re either from a very sheltered place that makes you completely blind to the US, or like you’re another American that’s anti-honesty and super manipulative about it
Are you absolutely sure you’re getting banned over that specifically? What specifically are you using your freedom of speech to say that’s getting you banned? Because if what you’re saying is true, down votes would be expected, not instance bans.
I’m American (unfortunately) and autistic, so I’m extremely interested in being my honest self with people. I have not been banned from any instances, and I hardly even have a modlog record.
That is what you asked and I answered. Yes.

Making me repeat this furthers my view that you are probably not too sheltered to be familiar with this, but just gaslighting me about it
Look, I’ll be real with you: based on the limited information I have about you, and my past experiences with other people who match the limited information you’ve given us… usually people in your position are either hiding information or genuinely ignorant of what they are actually getting banned for, usually right-wing sentiment.
So if your analysis of your situation is accurate, and if you’re not a right-winger…come over to Lemmy.SDF.org. You will absolutely not get banned from SDF over debating Lemmy’s federation and advocating for freedom of speech. Individual communities can still ban you of course. There’s no rules against insulting people and while I try to avoid insulting people because it’s not productive and it makes SDF look bad, some people in recent memory have absolutely earned it.
I really can’t tell if you’re sincere or not. I apologize for that.
I don’t get how people keep conflating me with right-wing people. It’s like right-wing people are going around imitating me to confuse people or something. It seriously makes no sense. It’s enraging and incomprehensible.
That instance appears to not allow open signups. I don’t want to be associated with a place that says “fill out an application and wait to be approved.”
I can’t get this comment right. It needs to show less emotion because it could bother someone to read it. But it needs more emotion because I’m too tired of all this. I don’t know what to say.
Man, you know why you’re getting downvoted so much? Your comments fall of as EXTREMELY egocentric.
On the internet, you are not special, just one of the many billions of usernames around. It’s not that right wingers are imitating you, the problem is that so often someone will make a post like yours saying “I get banned so often, this place is impossible”, and when people ask what they did to get banned, they’ll receive some vague bullshit answers like “for saying the truth” or “for any word I speak”, then you see their history and they say the most hateful, racist or mysoginist thing you can think of and they’ll act as the most persecuted of victims. It appears you are doing the same, even if that’s not your intention.
You are on the internet man, if people don’t do that, spam happens and instances get flooded with bots trolling everything until they shut down. If you don’t want to “be approved” you won’t have an account anywhere. Deal with it.
I’m not trying to insult you, just trying to help you, because it looks like you are slightly oblivious to how you present yourself.
This is about as easy as it gets to sign up for a Lemmy instance other than spinning up your own. No email needed. Your response does not need to be incredible, just needs to say what you plan to get out of the experience. I think I put in like two sentences.
Completely understand. Good luck on finding an online home. I still think SDF is a good bet.
