I’m not from the US and am always a bit confused with juries. Do I understand correctly that basically random people called for jury duty found her guilty to the charges (brought by Perdue)? Would they have any wiggle room beside guilty/not-guilty? Will the possible jail time be set by a judge or also the (same?) jury?
I’m also not from there but my understanding was that jury nullification works there, so any of the random citizens called in could stop her being convicted? Would love someone who knows American law to chime in here tho
The jury decides on a verdict (guilty/not guilty) of the crimes they’re being accused. If guilty, then the judge will define their sentence (usually following some guidelines) in between the minimum and maximum established by law.
