I just feel sad about it. I’ve been buying most of my games from the same shop for years, the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. A couple weeks ago they suddenly announced they’re closing.

The same thing happened to me just a couple days ago. I was very surprised.
However, your instance leads me to believe that it’s not the same store (Berlin). Judging by other comments, it seems to be a global phenomenon.
I live in Berlin, I’m on a Canadian instance by accident, we’re almost definitely sad about the same shop!
We rushed there as soon as we saw the announcement and managed to talk to the staff one last time. It was so heartbreaking to see the shop gutted, the atmosphere felt different, it was awful. I asked them what happened and they said it was a combination of a few unfortunate things.

I didn’t get to visit them one last time or browse their clearance sale because I saw the announcement too late. It all happened rather quickly.

I’ve been wanting to invite a couple people for a small board game evening, but so much has been happening at work that I just couldn’t summon up the mental energy to do it. I’ll for sure hit you up when I get around to it!
Covid got my FLGS, so I understand. The only ones open around me are just card shops sadly.
I was on the other end of this, and managed a store that had to shutter. It broke my heart.
These last few years, I witnessed the closure of many of my favourite shops, including board game shops, restaurants and pizzerias, and cafés. It really is disheartening.
That sucks. Local shops to buy board games are great.
The one we used moved several times and closed just before covid and man its sad still. It’s where I met my husband!
