Was modding unciv and had the idea of multiple textures per unit so every unit could have both female and male versions and potentially multiple ethnicities. And did not expect hate because my idea was ‘woke’.

So, tho i often nitpick about aspects of yall lefties, chatting in a nonleftleaning realm powerfully put in perspective that i should be appreciating you. I don’t even normally consider how some people actually think everything should be run by white males since none of you are spouting that nonsense. But people elsewhere do.
So, tho this is an echo chamber, interacting outside the echo chamber shows it is a place, a better place than outside, and should be valued and appreciated.
thank you
You are also appreciated. Thank you for this post.
For what it’s worth, you kind of buried the lede when it comes to selling your idea. “Having the option to have some tanks have grafitti or slight pixel differences for diversity” is brilliant, broadly appealing and noncontroversial, it’s how you get your foot in the door, get people onboard, and get your feature implemented. And then you can drop the gender equality mod on them when they least suspect it.
I’m being a bit tongue in cheek, but not really. It’s sad that we even have to think about such things, but in such a brutally divided and radicalized world it is a practical necessity.
It is a great idea though. Both the pixel variations and the gender and racial diversity. Would be a really nice touch, and a mod I’d use.
I mean, if they’re too snowflake to for the gender equality mod, they don’t need to use it. F-em.
Yeah it really is a nice little haven. I came here to escape the lack of ethics from reddit, but after learning about the origins of the fediverse and diversity, it felt like it was worth the tradeoff of a smaller community with somewhat less technical utility/inspiration. I want to question my biases and expand my understanding. Like I wasn’t adequately empathetic towards transgender or to a lesser extent gay people until I engaged here. I expected a different ethical awareness than most groups, like more self awareness in general, and probably more of an ultra liberal stance. Instead I see a much larger spectrum of people with much more to offer than what one might expect, along with many idiosyncrasies that make me feel more comfortable with my own. It is a pretty cool little place to be and appreciate for what it has evolved into so far.
