When I was recovering from TBI I made a bunch of fan fiction involving real people. Apparently you’re not supposed to use real people for fan fiction? You might think that’s why I got banned from the Behind the Bastards subreddit, but nope! The mods had to crack down on people like me because the admins were breathing down their necks after Charlie Kirk got killed. I posted a Charlie meme that was a lil too spicy
Oh to be clear I think it’s pretty creepy - I’m just never going to argue you shouldn’t be allowed to post it. Emphatically not my thing, but not everything is and that’s fine.
Genuinely glad you have had it confirmed that at least one subject is comfortable with it. Not judging I swear: is consent of the subject something you seek out before writing the fics or is it just, like a bonus?
A bonus! Most times rpf writers will not go out of their way to tell the people about it. The people being written about will find it. In the case of the writing I did, the people being written about considered us part of the community and liked we were around. It’s sort of considered incredibly rude to show the person you are writing about your writing.
That doesn’t stop other fans from showing them. Usually in an attempt to be all “Ew look at how creepy some of your fans are!” This group shut that down. We were fans of them like everyone else, and we all knew it was fiction.
Also I personally removed fanfics whenever asked. This happened once. The person (different guy than I had met) was becoming a teacher and was just scrubbing his online stuff. So I removed my writing of him.
Edit - Also. I’ve had other rpf writers write about me. So like. I found it really funny. My husband also knows I wrote rpf and had people write rpf about it.

Eeh, while real-person fanfic is a little contentious it’s by no means “not allowed” in fanfic.
Yeah I wrote a ton of rpf. And met one of the people I wrote about. He found it funny. He also knew we both understood it was fiction.
Some people hate it, which like. Understandable! Have a good day!
