Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I am using GOS on my 9 Pro and getting very mediocre SOT, like 5hrs. And that is WITH the following modifications:

  • Play Service has unrestricted battery for notifications

  • Everything else, if applicable, has restricted battery and no background network.

I have 2 profiles but only 1 is active, the Owner one. The secondary i rarely use and I make sure to “end session”.

The main Owner profile runs default launcher, browser, some messaging apps, youtube, some google stuff, proton stuff. VPN is not on. Display is high res (lowest setting). Smooth display is off. All other stuff like wake on lift, tap to check, AOD…etc. are all OFF.

What is your SOT and what settings did you make?

No clue what my SOE is but when I go to bed my 9 Pro Fold is usually at 50-70%. That is with smooth display enabled and using the phone for like 2 hours Youtube on my way to work/home and messaging in-between.

Settings is whatever GOS uses per default.

Mine has definitely been draining faster since the first round of android16 updates. Similar settings as you, and it will last about 3 days.

Pretty much. Apps I have unrestricted are gplay services, alarm, netgaurd, phone and messages. There are a few things in the optimized section (allow background activity) such as email, android auto, and my music player. Everything else is restricted.

My last full charge was Monday morning, some point on Wednesday I charged it from around 40% to 70%, and now on Friday afternoon its at 25%. This week has also been below average usage for me, due to vacation, with total screen time 4.5 hours.

There has definitely been a drop in battery life with Android 16, but we finally got small quick actions back, so I am happy.

I got a Fairphone 6 and my battery life is amazing. I have never once needed to charge it during the day after a month. I typically had to charge my other phones during the day frequently. Even brand new ones. I put mine on a charger the other night and it still was at 97% after the whole day. Get Google off your phone and you’ll be so much happier. Fairphone 6 now has service through Murena in the US too.

SOT is a useless stat. Battery drain is determined by the type of apps you use and the way they consume resources. Playing a GPU intensive game for 30mins will probably have a much greater effect on the battery than someone watching YouTube for 3hrs.

The responses you’re getting also are about uptime instead of SOT. Getting a real apples to apples comparison will be very difficult without comparing with someone with the same hardware/software/apps/usage pattern.

You’d be surprised how cpu intensive youtube really is, eats through my battery quicker than some light games.

The thing about battery life is that everyone’s usecase is different. Go into your settings and see which apps and processes are using the most power and see if you can kill or uninstall them.

If you’re not using Google Play Services, the apps may all be independently phoning their respective servers (because for some reason we can’t all get behind UnifiedPush) and killing your battery.

I have the 9 fold. When I use it with the screen closed and on my main profile with no Google apps, screen on time is INSANELY good. Screen open and in my Google profile it’s about the same as before I installed graphene.

Got lucky, found open box on eBay for $990 shipped. Was in the market for a “work phone” and the graphene profiles sold me.

That doesn’t seem normal. You should ask on the GrapheneOS forum, or search there. There will be tons of responses! https://discuss.grapheneos.org/

You should be getting more like 1-2 days of battery life depending on use… I found that typically there’s a slight improvement over stock OS.

I have the 9a on stock and the battery life is not that great compared to my old cheap phone. If I forget to turn off GPS then it doesn’t last the whole day.
