And I still have another whole day of Visiting Family For Christmas to get through - while doing my best to not end up talking politics, because whenever I talk politics with relatives, someone calls me a Stalinist, and one of the Hungarian nationalist nutjobs on Dad’s side of the family loses it on me about '56 as soon as I agree I’m a Stalinist just to shut the McCarthyist up. (At least tomorrow I’m seeing Mum’s side, Dad’s was yesterday and part of today, politics came up but I didn’t get called a pinko or anything worse and no one started up at me about '56, thank the heavens.) Ugh, someone please shoot me.
I do love that song… I guess because I think it’s funny when I get called Cold War insults. I know he’s really steamed when he goes past “pinko” and calls me a red, or starts flinging nonexistent tendency labels (I figure he’s not screwing around anymore and I’d better deescalate instead of playing along, when the word “Stalinist” gets used).
