Woke up this morning to 4000 spam emails and that someone had bought and redeemed a £100 amazon gift card on my account.
The annoying part is that I recently had some of my gaming accounts hacked so I’d already changed all of my passwords.
I’ve had 2FA on everything since forever, but apparently it’s all just security theatre 'cause it seems there was no obstacle to them doing this.
Guess I’ll try getting amazon to reimburse it but I have terrible luck

Contact your bank and dispute the charges
that was my first port of call but the bank said because it’s still a pending charge I needed to contact the merchant to cancel it.
I managed to get amazon to escalate it to their gift cards escalation team who apparently will contact me in 48 hours.
If that fails, by that time the charge will have left my account and i’ll be able to dispute it with my bank
Don’t be afraid to escalate and be angry and shit. Don’t back down when they say no. Other annoying-types (and we know who they are) will try to call you a Karen. I say it’s okay to be karen too much.
I’ve had good results with getting insistent and angry, but I will not be insulting or rude. Get the agent on your side, sometimes people have more power than they let on.
Sometimes you have to be a Karen to get anyone to do anything. It’s annoying but true. Companies and employees for them will take advantage of people’s niceness and desire to avoid confrontation.

Spent the new year learning I was being lied to by someone I thought was my best friend. I’m going to need years of therapy to get over this.
