Instead of a racoon, I tried to pareidolia my way into some other animals! Funnily enough, I saw the birds eating something almost immediately, but had no idea what to do with the tail for a while.
For sure, sometimes it’s easy to miss something obvious. My initial thought was that I wanted both parts to still go together, at least vaguely. I kind of ruled out insects in general, just because they’d be way too big relative to the pigeons.

The tail thing could easily be a wasp or a bee.

Well, if you wanted to be(e) realistic about it, you could make it so that the size difference could be explained by perspective.
