Many years ago I was watching Rising Up with Sonali, as I always do, when she brought on a famous Cali. Chef that converted to Veganism cooking at her restaurants & started investigating how Vegan the food was, she was buying. Only to find that the non-DIY & big growers had no way to provide her the food, without killing other Beings! She is not talking about just pesticides, side effects or intended, but actually taking action to kill them. WOW MOMENT, AS SHE EXPLAINED IT! THAT WAS EVEN THOUGH I HAVE LIVED IN A AG., FORMERLY DOMINATED BY FARMERS, AREA FOR 40±YEARS!
Since other Beings naturally or have no other option eat whatever is grown (if grown indoors, then deprives other Beings ability to have more land as growing a food source), ** the non-DIY & big growers have to kill the other Beings to economically survive **.
I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE WALKED, RAN, BICYCLED & DROVE RIGHT PAST A LOT OF HUGE FARMERS’ LANDS, BARRON OF ANY OTHER LIFE!

If I alone paid for & selected our Vegan foods, I would have made a huge switch & started growing even more food on our own property.

I hope this does not cause anyone to give-up on Being A Vegan, when it comes to food, but instead causes everyone to work to grow their own Vegan foods & learn to cook without the non-DIY & big growers. By the chef, did change from Strict Vegan chef to a chef that is but Vegan & non-Vegan. That is BLANKED-UP!

Interesting question why has this not rocked The Vegan world & caused serious change?

I can’t really disagree with you. It is possible, especially with community support. Rather than saying that not everyone can grow all of their own food, I should say that for the disabled poor living in urban environments in very cold or dry areas of the world, growing 100% of their own food would be much more difficult and/or require more innovative methods. Thank you for not backing down on this. We should never give up. Do you grow all of your own food now, or are you still in the process?

    • I wish, I do not own my own property & the obese & elderly & eating a lot Vegans roommates will bale (SP?)-out on me. Before I even knew this, I re-fixed-up our huge vegetable garden area (strong fence & all) out of my pocket (talking about poor people- I do not have any job & if was not for public services jobs’ retirement funds & medicare, I. would have nothing) & completely by myself, they were not enthusiastic about working with me, but for me to do everything else! So the decision I made BLANK-it, I wish I was a woke to the fact is what they all the time, when we team-up, leave it to me, eventually! Half-BLANK, & people wonder why they are obese & if it was for my getting to at least cheating Veganism, they probably be a lot worst, nursing home, maybe or even dead.

You really mean people with physical challenges right, not the other horrible word?
By the way, they would have to extremely physically challenged to not be able to figure-out a way of their own to do something, maybe, even with their neighborhood help. Not saying my neighborhood has not changed to the extreme that most do not care the other neighbors, at all. Some I have never seen!
