I made this headphone stand a few years ago. It’s been on my desk holding my headphones everyday since.
It’s black walnut that I made with handtools, a drill press and a lathe. It’s finished with pure Tung Oil.

Really nice. What headphones are these?
Thanks :) Sennheiser Momentum 2 Over Ear.
The newest version 4.
It is beautiful
also hashtags isn’t a thing on lemmy, you can delete those when you paste your post on every social media you’re on :>
Thank you. :)
Hashtags work as a search function. It’s an easy way to find specific things.
This is the only social media site I currently post to.
I thought it was just for aesthetics
I don’t think they work how they do in other social media with linking but if you search “#woodworking” you’ll see the posts with those specific characters.
That’s really the only reason I use them.
Stunning, and the wood really works with the black. If I saw that on a coworker’s desk I’d think this is a man/ woman of taste.
Thank you very much for your compliment. :)
Absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks!
Unnecessarily sexy for a headphone stand. I love it.
Haha thanks, I think aesthetics can make a persons day a little bit better.
You are absolutely correct.
Black walnut looks so good with everything
It really does, too bad it’s so expensive. :(
It’s not too bad if you find a good exotic woods dealer. I normally don’t splurge for the big boards, but I pick up nice chunks of cutoff for smaller projects for super cheap.
If you ever need a board foot or so of it for a little project and aren’t able to get it locally, hit me up. I might be able to send something your way.
I appreciate it :) for small stuff like this it’s not that bad just more than say maple.
Oh for sure. I went to a new dealer recently and found some wenge, which I’d never even seen before, and picked up a couple of short boards (like 5 bf) and it was $60. Wood can get crazy pricey for the uncommon stuff lol
Good idea to hide your Tonfa.
Love this! Made me dig up mine to post as well.
Nice, lets see it!

Beautiful in its simplicity.
Thank you :)
Nice work! How is the horizontal tenon attached that the headphone rests on?
Thanks! It’s a small mortise on the vertical component and the horizontal has a small tenon. Then just wood glue to keep it together.
