A reminder that as the US continues to threaten countries around the world, fedposting is to be very much avoided (even with qualifiers like “in Minecraft”) and comments containing it will be removed.

NATO infighting? You love to see it, folks.

The latest incident of America’s satrapies becoming increasingly unhappy about their mandated kowtowing involves, of all places, Greenland. As I’m sure most people here are aware, Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark with a degree of geopolitical and economic importance - the former due to its proximity to Russia, and the latter due to the proven and potential reserves of minerals that could be mined there. It’s also been an odd fascination of Trump during his reign, now culminating in outright demands.

Trump has called for negotiations with Denmark to purchase Greenland, justifying this by stating that it would be safer from Russia and China under America’s protection. Apparently, Norway’s decision to not give him the Nobel Peace Prize further inflamed him (not that the Norweigan government decides who receives the prizes). He has also said that countries that do not allow him to make the decision - which not only includes Denmark, but also other European countries - will suffer increased tariffs by June, and that he has not ruled out a military solution.

This threat has led to much internal bickering inside the West, with European leaders stating they will not give in to Trump’s demands, and even sending small numbers of troops to Greenland. The most bizarre part of this whole affair is that the US already basically has total military access and control over Greenland anyway, and has since the 1950s, when they signed an agreement with Denmark. There are already several US military facilities on Greenland, and B-52 bombers have famously flown in the vicinity of the island (and crashed into it with nuclear bombs in tow, in fact). Therefore, this whole event - in line with his all-performance, little-results presidency so far - seems to be largely about the theatrics of forcing the Europeans to continue to submit to his whims. I would not be surprised if they ultimately do sign a very imbalanced deal, though - the current European leadership is bound too tightly to the US to put up even half-hearted resistance.

This is all simultaneously occurring alongside the Canadian Prime Minister’s visit to China in which longstanding sore spots in their bilateral relationship are being addressed, with China reducing tariffs on Canadian canola oilseeds, and Canada reducing tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, as well as currency swaps between their central banks, among many other things. It seems no accident that Canada’s reconsideration of their relationship with China is occurring as Trump has made remarks about turning Canada into the next US state, as well as the demand for the renegotiation of the USMCA.

The Zionist Entity's Genocide of Palestine

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia’s youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it’s just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

After Transferring T-72s to Ukraine, Morocco Finds Abrams Insufficient and Eyes 400 South Korean K2 Black Panther Tanks

South Korea’s defense industry may soon gain a new customer for as many as 400 K2 Black Panther main battle tanks, intended to complement Abrams and M60 tanks within an unusually diverse armored fleet

    more

Morocco is considering the acquisition of up to 400 South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks. This interest is driven, among other factors, by the challenges of maintaining a highly heterogeneous armored vehicle inventory, from which the country previously transferred several dozen T-72B tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Information about the potential scale of the deal comes from South Korean defense industry sources, as reported by Barlamane. Morocco is also expected to procure KM-SAM air defense missile systems, also known as Cheongung. According to some sources, Moroccan officials explain their choice by arguing that reliance “exclusively on Abrams,” even in their latest variants, no longer meets the full spectrum of operational requirements. Instead, they are seeking a “flexible and multi-layered” approach to strengthening the country’s armed forces. From a Defense Express perspective, this assessment appears reasonable, as neighboring countries have been actively rearming in recent years, making additional force modernization a rational step. Algeria is a particularly notable example, as it continues to procure russian weaponry, including Su-57 fighters and Su-34 bombers.

As for Morocco’s tank fleet, it currently includes T-72B tanks being upgraded to the T-72EA standard, M60 tanks, Type-90-II tanks, and Abrams. The latter comprise 222 M1A1SA tanks already in service, as well as 162 M1A2 SEPv3 tanks on order, deliveries of which began in 2023. The result is a veritable “zoo” of armored vehicles, with U.S.-made platforms forming the backbone. However, such diversity remains difficult and costly to sustain, making the search for replacements for aging systems unsurprising. In this context, the South Korean K2 stands out as one of the most attractive options, not least because of its high production rates. In terms of air defense, the Cheongung system has also demonstrated solid export success, with contracts signed with Iraq, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, and it continues to receive improved iterations. Morocco, for its part, had already expressed interest in acquiring both K2 tanks and South Korean air defense systems as early as the spring of 2025. It should be recalled that in 2023 it became known that, at the request of the United States, Morocco transferred several dozen Soviet-made T-72B tanks to Ukraine. These vehicles were upgraded in the Czech Republic to the T-72EA standard, thereby enhancing Ukraine’s battlefield capabilities.

I think at this point the K2 is basically the only Western(-ish, more in the political than geographic interpretation of the word) tank actually in production of any scale? The Abrams has been out for a while, the French are out, the Brits are out (the Challenger 3 is going to be upgrades of existing hulls), it’s only really the Leopard 2 which is still kind of being produced, but it’s mostly refurbs, with only a handful of new hulls being made - ostensibly with the 2A8 there’s going to be a bunch of new hulls, but, uh, we’ll see, especially with how German manufacturing is doing. I guess Japan does still have some tank manufacturing capacity, but I’m not sure if they even can export them.

So yeah, at this point there’s basically no choice for a new-production modern (so, not a somewhat-modernized T-72) tank other than Russian (but they’re currently prioritizing their own military due to the war), Chinese or South Korean.
