It would be good to have percent of value added for each country a product has been in. Cotton from Zimbabwe 25%, weaving in China 50%, screen printing in Canada 25%, for example.
Just seems that they often don’t declare their country of origin, instead saying they were imported by.

It is, and that’s the complaint. It is a useless piece of information that does nothing to properly inform the consumer.
Hopefully the petition (recently ended, IIRC) does something to motivate lawmakers to require “imported from” to be part of that label.
