The French offices of Elon Musk’s X have been raided by the Paris prosecutor’s cyber-crime unit, as part of an investigation into suspected offences including unlawful data extraction and complicity in the possession of child pornography.

    If the EU would grow a backbone, they could really fuck shit up for Silicon Valley in general. Cory Doctorow’s proposal about removing DMCA-like anti-circumvention laws and letting the rest of the world design and distribute jailbreaks for all digital devices would be a great start. Prosecuting these ghouls for their many, many crimes would also be fantastic. I’m not holding my breath, but even this kind of legal harassment of melon-musk is excellent.

      Removing anti-circumvention is such a good idea, such an easy slam-dunk win… which is why I’m convinced the EU will be the last place to rescind the laws.
