Do you actually miss being in online arguments all the time, Natalie? If so, I think the internet may have broken your brain a little. The fact that I hardly ever end up in actual arguments here on Lemmy is part of the appeal of the platform. Even when there are disagreements, both sides tend to just walk away instead of pummel each other into the ground. But I also tend to curate myself to only communities that are well moderated, so maybe I’m just not seeing the asshats.
She did a video where she talked about the rush of having arguments online and reading toxic trans forums. So, I believe her when she said that she misses that.
I’m overly opinionated. But, If i argue with people on the internet it’s a proxy for arguing with people in real life. It scratches the itch and even wears me down a bit. Then I have more self control on picking battles with people I know in real life and dont want to hate me.
Is it a healthy comping meachniam to wear down my combative side using bigots and bots on the internet? Probably not. But it works.
She’s described it as more addictive than heroin. And while normally I brush statements like that, I do think it’s a valuable analysis when said by a recovering heroin addict like her. It’s likely similarly destructive given that it’s part of the spiral that led to heroin

Well I just don’t agree with you. I think everything you said is stupid.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was under the impression that getting into arguments was the point of the internet
