Disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was arrested this morning on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to the BBC.
The broadcaster said it had seen photos of cars arriving at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where Andrew has been living in a temporary property since leaving Royal Lodge, his permanent home in Windsor, in early February.
While it did not name Andrew, Thames Valley Police force said in a statement that it had arrested a man in his 60s; the former prince turned 66 today.
“Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office,” the statement said.
The latest Epstein files, released by the US Department of Justice earlier this month, appear to show that Andrew shared sensitive government documents and commercial information with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein when working as a trade envoy in 2010 and 2011.
In October, the former prince gave up his royal titles after sexual assault allegations published in Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir led to renewed scrutiny of his friendship with the convicted sex offender.

It’s probably a lot easier to nail him on the financial malfeasance than it is the nonce stuff.
Yeah it creates a much easier to track paper trail. This is also part of the reason the rich do sometimes get busted on tax stuff, harder to expensive lawyer you’re way out of the charges when there’s physical accounting of your crimes.
