Director says PC is the “foundation” when targeting “high-end environments first.”
Wow poor timing on that one.
With how long AAA dev cycles are these days, the next FF (after the final part of FF7) probably won’t be out until after the hardware market normalizes.
After the collapse?
too late…they lost me when they kept rereleasing the same game over and over and over…zero respect for the FF series anymore.
12 was the last good one.
FF6 was the last beautiful pixel one before 3d graphics and FMV cutscenes became their obsession. FF7 was probably my favorite FF game, but you can clearly see where the gameplay started withering on the vine while their convoluted dramatic storytelling and visuals became the focus progressively after that. 12 was where I ran out of steam too. The latest games are just… oof.
I mostly agree, but I think IX did a good job of being a classic FF in a 3d platform.
That’s not surprising with their new multi platform approach. Just one thing.
In a recent interview with Automaton, Hamaguchi clarified that the team takes the relatively common practice of creating visual assets for its multiplatform games by targeting “high-end environments first,” then performing a “reduction” for less powerful platforms.
I heared from dev’s it’s easiert to target low end plattform and scale stuff up than the other way arround. Hope it runs well, not on PS5, probably runs alright, but on steam deck, switch 2 and low end pcs as well.
