Grogu is from the Mystery-Yoda-Species so he’ll be a literal child for the first 50 or 100 years or whatever of his life

Disney wants to keep their popular IPs alive and profitable as long as possible, far beyond their reasonable lifespan, so that type of character is irresistible to them. The audience isn’t forced to confront any uncomfortable ideas from that character’s growth and maturity. HEY look at the CUTE BABY wheeeeeee! He’ll NEVER AGE, like a CARTOON CHARACTER!! That kind of immutability is what porky wants more than anything else

Anyways feel free to shit on star wars as much as you need below chickpea but pls watch Andor very-smart

They ARE precisely overly long toy commercials because Lucas made a deal where he took a huge pay cut while directing, in exchange for ownership of the merchandising rights.

The two slop mega franchises I enjoy, Star Wars and Gundam, are both expensive toy commercials that have stuck around since the late 70s.

With Gundam, at least the original creator fucking hated the toys and only complied to pay the bills (and also tried to intentionally financially destroy the franchise lmao).

And the funny thing about that deal from what I remember is that Fox at the time couldn’t say no to George because they were in a bad financial situation that made it so they needed him a lot more than he needed them.
