I mostly use Lemmy on mobile but I sometimes browse it with my desktop browser.
I’m surprised to not see a way to scroll to the next page automatically. Is there a switch somewhere or an extension / script I can install?
Thank you for your feedback
I can’t pinpoint to the specific post, but I do recall not too long ago @dessalines@lemmy.ml expressing his feelings about infinite scrolling. Long story short - it’s a deliberate design decision to not be addictive.
Thank you for your quick answer, I understand! If that’s something deliberate I’ll abide and that’ll do.
Have a nice day!
Whoa. That totally Keanues me. I had thought of the lack of infinite scrolling as a bug, a feature I’d hoped was in development, but this srsly rejiggers my ears and everything in between.
I already spend too much time online, so … I’m with @dessalines@lemmy.ml — no infinite scrolling, please.
I had the same initial reaction
The alexandrite interface has infinite scrolling. Default lemmy-ui doesn’t.
You could register on another instance that provides alternative interfaces for Lemmy, similar to how reddit has old.reddit.com and new.reddit.com
Dbzer0 has a few: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/3234456
- Tesseract
- Alexandrite
- Photon
- Mlmym
Lemmy.world also has a few: https://lemmy.world/post/2878694, https://lemmy.world/post/1941511, https://lemmy.world/post/1303201, https://lemmy.world/post/2878694
- Voyager
- Alexandrite
- Photon
- Mlmym
Or just go to these alternative interfaces directly and log into any instance:
- Voyager: vger.app
- Alexandrite: alexandrite.app
- Photon: phtn.app
There are several instances of Mlmym (yes, instances of a UI!). Here’s one: lemmy.bolha.one. Tesseract you are supposed to self host, their github has a demo instance but you should probably look into hosting it yourself.
I love Alexandrite myself.
thank you
thank you
There is a script. I use it. Ill send you later.
Thank you, I’m sure it will help others as well!
I use Connect app on my Android. I don’t use Lemmy desktop yet, as I dislike the UI a lot. Quality of life features, like infinite scroll, are missing because of personal believes, which I disagree with.
Well,
-
…but why!?
-
most apps do infinite scolling
- laziness / Convienence of not having to click after every load
- thank you but I was referring to the desktop interface / browsing
-
Kbin has infinite scrolling and you can browse Lemmy from them, but one of the alternate suggestions here might be better for what you’re after.
Indeed, duely noted though, thanks for your reply
