Just wanted everyone to know that using emojies through the colons, i.e. :example:, does not work outside of hexbear. Using the colon to find an emoji and then clicking on it so it transforms into ![name]() format does work.
It’s not a problem for me, I know most of them, and if I don’t I can just open it on hexbear to check. But I still wanted you all to know.
The example in the image is from the c/games sidebar btw.

This is the worst news ever
Not only should our emojis be visible on other instances, they should tower over all like mighty kaiju as they did in early days of federation
I think
still shows up like the sun cresting the horizon.I can confirm that it does.

I wished my instance has cool emojis. Or that I took the time to see why the hexbear extension doesnt work in my web app.

The firefox extension for hexbear emoji. I use anarchist.nexus as just a web app saved from firefox so I assumed my extensions would just work but I have never looked into it.

7·1 month agoYeah, that certainly doesn’t seem to work. Not that the extension was really made with android (I presume that’s what you are talking about with “web app”) in mind… Maybe if I was to change how it works I can make it better… I could maybe inject a button into the markdown area. Oh, but that might not work for piefed.

I appreciate but that sounds like a complexity thats not entirely worth the struggle unless you just love the game.
I’ll look into it after the weekend. Got a lot going on, and editing from a cell phone sucks.
Send me a reminder on Tuesday or Wednesday?

I played myself with this gag.

yeah we keep the colon syntax to support legacy posts from before the big migration. they only work on hexbear ui frontend.
This doesn’t effect any posts that get emotes from the emote picker since that puts the proper markdown in.
