    I live in a neighborhood where this is daily life for most people. But privilege won’t believe it unless it happens to themselves.

        If it takes you more than 15 minutes to walk a mile, something is seriously wrong. Until a local plant closed down, my neighbors regularly walked to and from work, about four miles away and worked 10-12 hour shifts.

        I’m old and even waking my pet and stopping so they can do their business a few times only takes about 15 minutes, 20 if they’re being extra leisurely. This is just daily life for most of us, except the drug dealers and their stables.

          I think I did estimate walking time too high by about double. I used to walk/bike to work myself I just didn’t give it much thought when I wrote it.

          I still think if it was 24 miles a day, that would be a bit extreme but it ended up being 12 per day. Still pretty lengthy but entirely believable.
