What do we think?
Extremely cool and impressive from a technical and cultural standpoint, is what I think.
Decomps, reverse engineering… extremely tedious and complex work, often maddening.
Also arguably illegal. Not that I… think that it should be, but it could become a problem.
I think if you’re willing to wait 20+ years to play a particular video game you can have it for free.
I mean, generally speaking, you usually only have to wait a few months to play most video games for free.

Good for preservation, that alone is golden.
But personally, I don’t like to play old 3D games anymore, I stopped enjoying their aged mechanics and graphics. However, retro 2D games… I freaking love them, I could play Sunset Riders until the day I die.
Decomps mean recomps though. New control schemes, new models, new logic, new textures.
Dang. Back in high school my best friend and I wore out the MAME emulator playing sunset riders and countless other classics. Fuck, I’m old.
I just can’t get enough of the side scrolling beat em ups.
