I’m trying to install Davinci Resolve on Mint.
My friend is not Linux techsavvy. He has tried for about a week to get it working on Linux Mint, with no success. Instead, broke his system a couple times trying to get it working.
Is there an easier way to get it running? Would running it using Wine, or is there some kind of Flatpak or AppImage type thing to make it easier?

Davinci Resolve on Linux Mint. Sorry, I thought crossposting which state that. lol. I should have read the crosspost better.
I remember it being a pain to install on Mint or Ubuntu, some years ago (probably when they first made a Linux version available).
I did definitely eventually get it running, but found it a bit underwhelming compared to Kdenlive, so haven’t really bothered trying it more recently.
There’s a script which apparently converts the installer into one more compatible with Debian/Ubuntu/Mint, which may work.
I’ve not tried it myself, so at your own risk:

Might be worth a try with this?
Kdenlive looks so much better!!! Thank you!!!
A good “plan B” :)
I’ve used Kdenlive for years, so ask if you have any questions - though I’m unsure where to ask - I’m not sure if there’s a “Linux Video Editing”, “Linux Creative Software” or “Kdenlive” specific bit of Lemmy. Anyway, if you have a question, put it somewhere it will be found :)
[Edit] There are both Kdenlive and Linux Video Editing communities :)

(I know there’s a way of linking these that works better, but I can’t remember how to do it)
