    liberate

    …

From what? Russia is invading. That is not “liberated”, that is “conquered”

Look, if you want to support an aggressive invasive force led by a dictatorship, that is one thing, but can you please stop being a pussy and at least just call the things as they are?

How about admit that the Russian population in those areas were being subject to ethnic cleansing before the war started? Why is your concept of honesty something that only applies to other people?

… Why would I admit to Russian propaganda?

Let me out it like this… If this really happened, then there are sources for that -nothing controlled by the Russian government- that can corroborate that with actual evidence.

So like Wikipedia says, <citation needed>

You’ve been on Lemmy as long as I have, so I don’t know how you can still pretend that there’s no evidence.

Honest question from a non-communist, based on your reply here. Does one need to support Putin to be a Marxist?

In a word, no. In a few more words, support for Russia (not Putin, as historical materialists don’t subscribe to great man theory) is only a partial, temporary, tactical one, in the context of imperialist liberation. Russia is still a capitalist state, though, so it’s a two stage strategy: first liberate colonized bourgeois states from colonizer states, and second revolution within those liberated bourgeois states.

Russia is an interesting case: it has already liberated itself from the post-Soviet “shock therapy” neocolonizers. This occurred during Putin’s administration, which is why he is especially hated by the US. So now the support for Russia is in the context of keeping the colonizers from recolonizing it, and supporting Russia to the extent that it helps other states liberate themselves. But Russia isn’t trying to “liberate” Ukraine, at least not all of Ukraine. It’s trying to resolve the genocidal attacks on the people of the Donbas, and it’s trying to resolve the imperialist military expansion at its border.

Your ass probably thinks the US government is controlled by the Russian government. You want me to find a source from your own propaganda that doesn’t depict it as ‘clashes with separatists’ and that the victims of the Odessa fire didn’t set it themselves?

Why don’t you admit you support Ukraine’s Banderite fascist government which came into power in a far-right coup backed by the U.S. who picked out members of the new government in advance?
