Honestly it wouldve been so much better had they kept the original reveal from the comic. What was the point of developing BN’s character, then having Homelander kill him, casting another one, and then killing him too by way of the Deep? Its so fucking asinine, my god. Kripke what the fuck happened to you man. Your ass used to be beautiful.

Since im on my soapbox here, what was the point of Solider Boy as well? Okay you bring him on in season 3 as a walking supe depowerer/vaporizer, great, last minute the boys turn on him cuz the fucking kid is in the way and he gets put back into his box. Okay, well fine, they want to extend the show, keep people employed, whatever. Now he’s back

    spoiler

and he dicks around with homelander and then homelander just puts him into a box again. I mean oh my god its all so pointless. Makes me think this role was just a jobs program for jensen ackles

What was the reveal in the comics? I

      spoiler

He was the failsafe for “What if Homelander goes rogue”. A clone of homelander who was ever so slightly more powerful, the plan being that they would kill esch other if homelander went out of line. However in the comic Homelander doesn’t cross the line, so black noir never has a purpose. Which makes black noir try to force the issue by staging events to make Homelander THINK he’s crossed the line already.

I mean the show has been off the rails since the finale of season 3. Season 4 set up some interesting beats which they did not deliver on. Its so disappointing lol. Retroactively this makes me think Kripke would have also run supernatural into the ground had he stayed on as showrunner, since many people laud his turn at the helm as the show’s golden era and where it shouldve ended

Yeah so much of the last like 3 seasons of this show has been very badly managed. No clear idea of what they’re actually building towards, just more dick jokes, more kills, more blood, more mommy milk and r-word “jokes”

You know what really didn’t make sense? Homelander was totally fucked in that supe radiation chamber. What if they like, i dunno, did literally any of a number of methods to kill him while he was being subjected to that? no, no, we need to put all our faith in the viral macguffin

Also didn’t make sense that he just Got Better and got out of it when he really seemed to be doing progressively much worse every second he was in there

I was hoping they’d kill deep there I hate him on screen. Idk I have to pre screen the captions with an llm to avoid problematic episodes anyways

Speaking of of that character. The Boys might be one of the most ableist shows on tv. Other shows might deny disabled characters their agency or attribute maliciousness to mental illness, but i don’t think I’ve ever seen another ahow directly show that disability, any disability, directly makes you evil. If you are disabled in The Boys, you are evil. You will choose to hurt others, and the heroes are right to oppose you.

Their one possible counter example, kimiko, was fucking cured off screen.

Edit: Wait there’s also the daredevil clone who is immediately tortured and then removed from the show. I forget him because he has literally 0 plot relevance

Eh you’re right but honestly I don’t really care about wonky writing when it comes to this show, clearly it was never meant to be a super serious piece of TV entertainment. I just enjoy the raunchy jokes and don’t think too hard about any of it.

I’m pretty sure they just really liked the actor who played Noir and felt bad he didn’t get to speak as Noir I, but they had zero idea of what to do with him beyond introduce him as Noir II
