I am all for reclaiming the “my taxpayer money” label. I pay taxes and I want a social democratic welfare state for my money. I am the taxpayer, I am willing to pay more in taxes if needed, and I demand publicly owned and union operated universal services.
I much prefer citizens’ money. The money paid in rent is not rentpayers’ money but landlords’ money. Similarly taxes are not taxpayers’ money it is citizens’ money.
