    There is a lot to process in your story because I am not familiar with all of these people and events. Sometimes Kill Yourself has a paragraph:

    The people in the Canadian drug policy scene were infinitely better humans than most of those I met in San Francisco. There weren’t many, if any, vortexes of money, sex and power to make people crazy.

    Canada has plenty of pockets of evil, from remote reserves where everyone knows who is abusing a child, to board rooms where corporations fleece the public and spend just enough on dividends and lobbyists to keep Parliament happy. But the Rationalist / EA / TPOT/ tech-bro space seems messed up and I hope people see that it is not safe and there are plenty of other scenes with articulate people or drugs or kink or whatever you are in to without all these sleazebags and grifters.
