Sort of fucked up to mock any living thing feeling pain and suffering. As our understanding advances and we realize that animals are much closer to us in thought than humans believed in the past we also learn more about other forms of life.

Grass doesn’t feel pain, that’s the joke. It doesn’t have a nervous system with which to feel. Plants feel pain is used as a justification for ignoring the pain and suffering we inflict on other animals, because “you aren’t perfect either, plants feel pain too!”

It wasn’t very long ago that people claimed babies couldn’t feel pain, animals had no consciousness, etc. Just because a thing isn’t functionally like us does not necessitate that it has no ability to feel something like our feelings of pain.

      They don’t.

Pop scientists pretend that reactions to damage is the same as pain. Grass releasing chemical signals when cut? That must be SCREAMING in PAIN!!
